When it comes to vitamins, we are usually familiar with Vitamin C and Vitamin E as these are some of the more common vitamins in the market. There is one vitamin that is important as well although it is not as well known as the some of the other more popular ones. This important vitamin is Vitamin K.

One of the many Vitamin K benefits goes much to the actual enhancement of the person's skin. This vitamin is great for having good blood circulation as well as coagulation. This particular variety of nutrient is also a great agent to help improve the luster and radiance of the skin, restores the actual natural color of the skin whenever the skin develops unwanted discoloration due to the harmful rays of the sun, this can also aid in some vascular complications of the skin; aids in blood clotting to further improve scar healings, and aids skin imperfections. And since it contributes greatly on having a good blood circulation, it can also prevent people from having spider veins that are normally seen in the face area as well as other parts of the body.

To fully understand the foods that are classified as high in Vitamin K, I highly recommend you to check the following:

Green and leafy vegetables, fat-free yogurt that is certainly an excellent source of live microorganisms, lettuce, soy beans (dried type), spinach, lentils, vegetable natural oils, endive, chicken, egg yolk, broccoli, butter, Brussels sprouts, chlorophyll, cabbage.

Teas To Help Stop Smoking

Health Benefits of Tea Drinking

Can drinking tea actually help you quit smoking? In this article I'm going to have a critical look at the assertion that drinking tea can help with quitting the deadly habit of smoking tobacco. I'm aware that tea, especially green tea, has been shown to contain anti-oxidants. Oxidants are chemicals formed in the body due to a variety of reasons. Smoking is one reason why these chemicals are created. These chemicals are important because they react with cellular components causing cell damage. In turn this results in genetic damage and genetic damage is a step towards cancer. The anti-oxidants in green tea have been scientifically shown to mop up oxidants. Therefore, green tea can possibly help combat the carcinogenic effects of tobacco smoke to some degree.

The Claims of Tea Drinking

Teas to help stop smoking? Are there any ingredients in tea that are of help in quitting smoking? There is no doubt that tea contains chemicals that can influence the body in a number of ways. However, is there any sound scientific evidence that supports the claim that tea drinking helps, in any way, to quit smoking? There are teas that can act as an expectorant; that is, they help to clear the chest of phlegm. Exponents advocate that drinking tea can relieve anxiety and reduce stress, detoxify the body, renew and improve lung function and suppress appetite. It is claimed that peppermint tea helps to alleviate withdrawal symptoms such as nausea and supposedly helps curb nicotine cravings. It is also claimed that drinking green tea can help to burn calories thus counteracting weight gain which is often a problem during the initial phase of the quit smoking process.

Teas to Help Stop Smoking- The reality

The scientific evidence for green tea having anti-oxidant properties is convincing. Therefore, green tea may actually help to reduce the risk of smoking related cancer. The worry of course is that the anti-oxidant properties of green tea may discourage smokers from quitting. The anti-cancer benefits are relative and don't equate to returning the smoker to the lung cancer risk of the non-smoker. Evidence in support of drinking tea to help reduce nicotine cravings is less conclusive. I suspect that many of the claims for tea drinking, as a quit smoking aid, are scientifically unsupported. As with many so called 'natural' products that are put forward to help stop smoking the benefits are perceived rather than real. They act as a psychological crutch. However, this psychological aspect of the quitting process should not be underestimated. If someone honestly thinks that it helps, then it probably does.

In the final analysis, I am of the opinion that the claim that drinking tea to help stop smoking is overstated. There is no doubt that green tea is a health tonic. However, as a quit smoking aid, apart from providing psychological support, there are no real benefits.

Hair Care Products for Men

0

Even though men do not put as much stock into their hair as women, healthy hair can go a long way for a man's appearance. Hair is made out of proteins, a hair is much like the fibers in your fingernails but put together much differently. Even though your hair follicle is not technically alive it grows, sleeps and eventually dies after about a 6 year life span.

If your hair becomes damaged it can take quite a while to get it back to its original healthy status. Below are some things you should look for in hair care products for men.

Everything you do in your daily life including your job and diet directly effects your hair. So do what you can to reduce damage by being gently on your scalp. A wet hair breaks more easily than a dry one so when your hair is wet be extra carefully to be gentle with it.

Stay away from blow dryers or any other heating tools, most men do not use them but if you do be careful the high temperatures can fry your hair. If you insist on using a blow dryer be smart and use it at its coolest setting i will take longer to dry your hair, but it will do minimal damage.

If you feel you need to use high heat use a thermal protector to seal and protect the hair from the heat. If you have dry hair take a cooler shower this will help you avoid washing away to much sebum (scalp oil). If you have very oily hair take the hottest shower you can stand this will help break up any oily build up and cleanse your scalp more thoroughly.

Say no to chemicals. Using chemical treatments can literally strip your hair and cause it too be brittle and break. If you do choose to use a chemical treatment then make sure you follow it with a deep conditioner to put some of the moisture back into your hair that was leeched out.

Natural is the way to go so look for naturally based shampoo that will help make and keep hair healthy. You should see a difference after the first week of washings. Believe it or not every thing you do including healthy, diet and lifestyle choices reflect on your hair.

If you eat plenty of fruits and vegetables drink a lot of water and exercise daily your hair will be more healthy. Stress greatly effects your hairs healthy so try to sleep at least 7 hours a night and try to relax stress is terrible for your hair. There is an old saying that if you wear a hat every day your hair will fall out, this is not true at all.

One part of keeping your hair healthy hair regular trimmings. We do not mean a full blown hair cut just get your hair cleaned up. This will remove dead ends and help keep your hair stronger. If you suffer from dry hair try a using conditioner, many men do not use any at all.

Look for hair care products that will compliment you and your hair type. Make sure to stick to naturally based products for the best results. Men want products that work, so it may take a little of trial and error to get ones that work well for you and your specific hair type.

Benefits of Acupuncture for Workaholics

0

For a lot of people, there's nothing more stressful than what they go through at work. People may enjoy their jobs, but may pay the price of a stressful job with high levels of anxiety and stress, which may have a number of negative effects on one's health. High blood pressure may be one, while women who are pregnant may be encouraged to reduce their stress as it may be detrimental to their health while pregnant as well as that of their child. Workaholics may find relief from the stress from their job in a number of places, one of which may include acupuncture.

The exact reasons for acupuncture's success are not fully understood, but it has been used for thousands of years to alleviate many different symptoms and negative conditions. The treatment works by placing thin, sterile needles in certain points on the body. Practitioners believe that this helps to release positive energy, while in the process pushes out negative energy. Practitioners believe that energy may become blocked due to stress, poor diet, lack of exercise, etc., all of which may be indicative of a workaholic. By releasing this blocked energy, practitioners believe that it helps relieve conditions like stress and anxiety.

For workaholics who are pregnant, the condition may have other benefits as well. Relieving stress while pregnant is often important, as stress may be harmful to one's health while pregnant. What's more, acupuncture may help to increase blood flow to the reproductive organs, may increase the thickness of the uterine lining, etc. Many women who are having trouble conceiving, which may be due to stress in some cases, turn to acupuncture and may continue treatment through their first trimester, as this is when most miscarriages occur.

Workaholics may find themselves suffering from a variety of emotional distresses like anxiety, stress, depression, etc. This may not only have a negative impact on their emotional well-being, it may manifest in certain physical problems as well. This may include pain, which acupuncture may be used to manage, as well as high blood pressure and other conditions. One of the first steps to alleviating these symptoms may be to reduce the stressors in one's life, and that may mean cutting back on the stress at work or reducing one's hours spent at work. Individuals should also speak with their doctor about the possible negative consequences of stress and how to best manage it. Acupuncture may be recommended in many cases.

Acupuncture and Release

Most of us don't realize how "stuck" we really are. It's our nature to accumulate things, ideas, people. It's a lot harder to let go of something than it is to hold on to it-even if letting go is in our best interest. If you don't believe me, just take a good look around you. Do you really need everything that is in the room with you, taking up space? Is everything in the room either attractive or useful? If not, why is it still there?

Ladies, take a moment to dump out your purses. What is it that is making them so heavy? Is it full of things that you actually need and use everyday, or have you discovered items that have been tucked away in there for months?

This need to hoard extends to our emotional lives, as well. We tend to hold on to our pains and regrets, embracing and savoring them. How many times have you had a bad situation play over and over in your head? You know that brooding over it is only making you feel worse, yet it is so much harder to stop and move on than it is to torture yourself with it. We hold on to people who we know aren't good for us, dreading the loss more than the pain they cause. We are conditioned to hold, so much so that letting go of anything feels daunting.

In my world, anything that is being held on to causes stagnation, or a lack of movement. There are three things that we acupuncturists are able to do within the body, and these three things are the catalysts for all healing. We can build up weaknesses, drain excesses, and get things moving. In my experience, getting things moving has the most benefit to the health. Most people suffer from stagnation, and relieving that stagnation is usually instantly gratifying. True, sometimes patients are purely deficient or excess, but even then, an element of stagnation comes into play.

So what should you expect when we relieve your stagnation? Well, first of all, pain relief. Smoother periods, better digestion, and a release of stress and anxiety are also to be expected. When stagnation moves, you will have more energy, more motivation, and clearer thinking.

But what sort of effects show up immediately after stagnation is cleared? Well, since things are moving within the body, it is not uncommon for the digestion to get moving, as well. Rumbling stomachs are very common on the acupuncture table; in fact, we like hearing the noise, knowing that it means the treatment is working. Many people need to urinate immediately after getting off the table, since we are moving the fluids in the body. Increased bowel movements after a moving session are also common.

Emotional release frequently occurs, as well. Often people will tear up without knowing why. I have noticed that even my most taciturn patients share details about thoughts that are bothering them once the needles are in. It's almost as if their emotions come bubbling up to the surface through the needle holes! I have also had patients report bursting into tears after the treatment, which led to a sort of spiritual cleansing afterward. I have heard from these patients that this cleansing emotional release leads to an evaporation of unresolved issues. Old resentments, fears, and grievances seem to rise to the surface and disperse once the episode of crying is over. Yet another reason why acupuncture is good for the soul!

Acupuncture For Weight Loss

0

It is possible that you are already aware of the possibility of acupuncture for weight loss, and are doubtful about that through the application of needles to the body that strong results can be achieved.

Or perhaps you are doubtful about this because you don't understand all of the factors involved with this process.

Acupuncture for weight loss is based on Chinese acupuncture procedures which have been practiced for thousands of years. Although this has existed for nearly as long as acupuncture itself, it has only become well known to the public since 2003.

Impressive statistics have begun to appear in the media. This new information has triggered great interest, since loosing excess fat is an issue of prime importance for many people.

Reports from the Chinese media have indicated that this procedure has helped many people to lose large amounts of weight - usually as much as 22 to 33 pounds. In some special circumstances, individuals have been able to shed enormous quantities of fat, occasionally as much as 240 pounds or more.

Success rates have been impressive as well. According to Chinese practitioners, four out of five people who tried acupuncture for weight loss were able to shed weight.

Because of this, centers specialized in this have begun to appear in the West. If one were to visit one of them even once, they would discover that the procedure is not, contrary to popular belief, completely based on the application of needles to the body.

Instead, the central purpose of the treatment is to cause the patient's digestive system to become enlivened. Although this is indeed is founded upon the practice of acupuncture, it also involves the intake of various herbs.

Herbal regimens are used to help raise patients' metabolisms, re-balance their digestive systems and lessen their appetites. These regimens are key to making acupuncture weight loss programs a success.

Another factor to understand is that high quality centers that utilize herbs to trigger loss of weight use herbs that are of high grade, pharmaceutical quality.

Other methods utilized in the specialized centers centers include mild exercise, proper breathing technique lessons, Shiatsu massage and instruction on how to balance the body and increase flexibility, as these practices are central to creating a complete acupuncture weight loss program.

Another thing to consider is that such programs will not result in an instantaneous loss of weight. Instead, acupuncture weight loss programs involve a slow but sure method which emphasizes balancing the mind and body together, in order to improve general health.

While some acupuncture for weight loss techniques can be somewhat vigorous, others, such as Aroma wraps or Shiatsu massage, are more than mild - in fact, they can be extremely pleasant, resembling spa treatments more than anything else.

Misadventures In Acupuncture

0

The first time I had acupuncture, I had no idea what to expect. Like many of you out there, I had expectations of an ancient Chinese man performing some type of incense-filled ritual over my needled body. I was quite surprised when my acupuncturist turned out to be a young blonde woman who looked as if she had stepped out of the pages of a fashion magazine. She was perky and chatty, and asked me a series of questions before putting the needles in. I will say that her technique was good; at the time I was rather squeamish about needles, and nervous about the process in general, but I barely felt a thing. That was the positive part of the treatment. The bad part? Well, she left the room shortly after, never to return. Okay, she returned after forty minutes or so, but as a patient who had no idea what was going on, it felt like an eternity. I had no buzzer or bell to alert her if she was needed, and I felt kind of...well, abandoned. I tried to relax, but then the needles started popping out...and when I say "popping", I mean that they were literally flying across the room. If this happened today, I wouldn't think anything of it, but as a first-timer, I really wanted someone there to tell me what was going on. In the end, I didn't enjoy the session at all, because I simply couldn't relax in that strange environment, with no one around to explain the details of what was happening during the treatment.

Fast-forward to a few years later. After starting grad school, I went to the school clinic for some back pain. The acupuncturist turned out to be one of my professors, who asked if she could treat me in front of a few other students. I agreed, and at that point she told me to take off my pants. When I asked for a drape, or a sheet, she just smiled and gave me a speech about how being naked wasn't a big deal, and how her experience in nudist colonies taught her that we shouldn't fear exposing our bodies. I didn't want to argue, so I simply laid on the table while she pulled down my underwear and needled my back in front of five students and an open window facing a courtyard full of students.

You would think that the previous episode would scare me away from student clinics forever, but apparently I'm a slow learner. About two years after the enforced nudity incident, I went to the school clinic to get treated for a cold. I had your basic issues: body aches, sore throat, headache, but my nose wasn't stuffy or running. After all the other needles were in, the student attempted to put a needle into the tip of my nose. When I asked her why, she said that it would help my stuffy nose. I explained, again, that my nose wasn't stuffy at all, and she insisted that the point was necessary. I quickly realized that that was an acupuncture point we had learned about in school that week, and this student simply wanted to use me as her guinea pig. I patiently repeated that I would prefer if she didn't stick a needle in the tip of my nose, please, and finally she gave up (although not without some huffing and eye-rolling).

I later learned that poor bedside manner isn't just an issue suffered by the inexperienced practitioner. At one point I went to a practitioner who is famous in our field. I expected a life-changing treatment. What I received was jarring, uncomfortable, and completely intimidating. He yelled at me from the moment I walked in the door. I know that was just his way, but I prefer soothing tones and reassurance when I'm at the acupuncturist's office. If I want to get screamed at, I'll join a boot camp. His palpation was so strong and uncomfortable that I think he may have flattened a few organs. After he diagnosed me, he ran out of the room and left an assistant to finish the treatment. And then I was left there, sore, freezing (I was too afraid of him to ask for a blanket) and all alone, with the occasional screams of other patients as my only company.

Please don't misunderstand: for every acupuncturist who gave me a treatment bad enough to warrant a good story, there have been ten others who have done a wonderful job. Most acupuncturists really care about what they do, and therefore excel at it. However, I have found that I often learn more after bad experiences than good. To this day, I always drape my patients, I never leave them alone, and I try my best not to hurt them (or scream at them until they almost cry.) I also don't use crazy points that may hurt just for my own experimentation. You can give someone the best treatment in the world, but if you hurt/humiliate/frighten them in the process, it will be the only time you will get a chance to treat them.

Acupuncture to Quit Smoking

Alternative Therapy

Alternative medicine is big business and it is estimated that Americans will spend $34 billion on a variety of alternative treatments over the course of a single year. Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese therapy and is usually considered within the 'alternative medicine' category. The alternative medicine category contains an interesting and diverse group of therapies although not all these therapies are considered legitimate by contemporary modern medical practice; many are simply strange and consequently of no therapeutic worth (that's right homeopathy, I'm talking about you). Alternative therapies, if they are to be taken seriously, should be able to stand up to scientific and medical scrutiny.

Acupuncture

In traditional acupuncture, fine needles are placed in various parts of the body and are rotated or otherwise stimulated. The needles are placed along specific energy channels, or meridians. Acupuncture practitioners contend that meridians contain the body's life force, or chi and the placement of needles along these channels influence the body's energy for the good. There is no space in this article to consider the traditional Chinese approach to disease and how acupuncture can alter physiological processes. It is sufficient to say that most modern medical practitioners would disagree with the traditional Chinese explanation. However, this does not mean that acupuncture has no beneficial medical effects.

Acupuncture- does it work?

Does acupuncture actually work and should it be considered as an effective and legitimate medical treatment? It is important to establish that acupuncture's effectiveness is more than that expected over and above the placebo effect. Acupuncture's validity can only be established by conducting well designed double blind clinical trials. It won't do for adherents of acupuncture to say that their technique does not respond to scientific scrutiny. If acupuncture cannot stand up to the rigours of scientific evaluation then it should be disregarded as an effective therapy.

Practitioners of acupuncture claim that it is a useful therapy for a range of medical conditions. Most studies have focussed on whether acupuncture is an effective treatment for the management of pain. Acupuncture has been proposed as a treatment for drug addiction, asthma, epilepsy and depression, to name but a few. Although acupuncture has been thoroughly investigated by medical research bodies there is little evidence to suggest that it is an effective treatment for anything. There is some evidence which supports the contention that acupuncture helps in the management of pain however, it is no more effective than medically prescribed analgesics.

Acupuncture and Quit Smoking

This article is specifically concerned with the question: acupuncture to stop smoking- is it effective? Acupuncture therapists say it helps to reduce nicotine cravings and withdrawal symptoms. We can't rely on so called evidence given by acupuncture practitioners for a variety of reasons. Firstly, their accounts of the effectiveness are anecdotal and do not qualify as medical evidence. Secondly, their testimony will be biased, consciously or unconsciously. As mentioned previously, this is big business and acupuncture specialists are hardly likely to say that their therapy is not effective, especially as their livelihood is at stake. There have been a number of independent clinical studies looking at acupuncture to stop smoking and sadly I have to say that I have not found any evidence to support the case that acupuncture to stop smoking is effective.

Of all the alternative therapies, acupuncture, at least to me, seemed to hold promise as an effective treatment. At least there seemed a sound physiological basis for the technique; surely inserting needles into the body must have some effect! But the best of current medical evidence does not support this notion, certainly with regard to acupuncture to stop smoking. This is why it is so important to apply scientific methodologies to acupuncture, or for that matter any medical treatment, because after all, we all have our own particular prejudices and subjective bias.

Acupuncture and Intention

0

There are several acupuncture points that are contraindicated during pregnancy, and these points are drilled into us from day one of grad school. When I was still a student, I remember having a supervisor tell another student to needle one of these points on a pregnant woman. When I mentioned that we were always told not to do that, he insisted that it was the intent that counted, not the actual needling. According to him, if you focused your will on what you wanted that needle to achieve, it would happen.

Honestly, I had a hard time buying into that at the time. I probably wouldn't do any harm with gentle needling on that contraindicated point; most likely it would be fine. "Probably" wasn't good enough for me, though. I didn't want to take any chances working on points that we were taught to stay away from, and I still don't. However, this concept of intention has always fascinated me. How much of what we accomplish in the treatment room is linked to our will? I have had patients say that they felt better even before I even put a needle in, because they felt cared for and listened to. From the moment someone walks into my room, my sole focus is on getting them well, and I truly believe that that focus is necessary for a successful treatment. I sometimes feel that my treatments start long before the first needle insertion; they start the moment the patient walks in the room, and I begin centering my energy on them. Actually, the treatment begins even before that-it begins the moment the patient decides to take the necessary steps to work on improving their health. The intention of the patient may be just as important as that of the practitioner.

It would be wonderful if all we needed for a good treatment was good intentions and a caring manner, but unfortunately that isn't the case. I have had poor treatments from practitioners who could not have been kinder. Despite their great bedside manner, I left without feeling any results. Whether it was due to improper point location, or an incorrect diagnosis, their intention wasn't enough to make up for a lack of skill. And on the other end of the spectrum, I once saw a very famous acupuncturist, not to be named, who is known to be at the very top of our field. I went to her expecting the best treatment of my life. When I finally met her, I found her to be brusque, rough, and quick-so much so that I was actually kind of afraid of her. She was incredibly focused, and obviously skilled, but I didn't enjoy the treatment at all. And the results of the treatment? Eh. I did get some relief, but it didn't have the "wow" factor that I was expecting.

When it comes down to it, neither intention nor skill are enough. There is power in those needles, but they need to be used wisely. Fast Acne Treatment

Everyone suffering from acne problem is looking for a quick and easy acne treatment. They try whatever they can find, be it buying skin products, going for facial treatments or consulting a skin doctor. All these might help to alleviate the problem a little, but they do not really solve the actual problem that is deep-rooted inside your body.

There are many acne treatments and you can choose to use them concurrently. However, I would only recommend natural acne remedies. Do some of the skincare products that you see on TV works? Yes, to a certain extent. But you must remember that most of these acne treatments contain many other chemicals which will have other side effects in the future. In certain cases, it might even worsen your acne condition.

Stop acne from within your body

Most of you who suffer from acne could be due to what is going on in our bodies. You might be suffering from a food allergy that you are unaware of. In addition, our bodies are intoxicated with plenty of harmful chemicals that go into the food we eat and the air we breathe. We need to remove them using detox remedies. These chemicals might contribute to hormonal imbalance, which leads to acne breakouts. You can find many such remedies by doing an online search. Remove these toxins in your body and you will be on your way to a healthy-looking skin.

Another simple and yet effective way to treat acne is to drink plenty of water. Water can help remove the toxins in your body, thus speeding up the detox process. You should stick to drinking at least 8 glasses of water each day. Your skin will also look more radiant when you hydrate enough.

Stop acne from the outside

Look out for skincare products that contain honey. Honey is very useful in acne treatment because it contains enzymes that can help slow or even stop the growth of bacteria on your face. Honey is also rich in antioxidants, which can help remove free radicals on your face. These antioxidants can boost tissue growth, and at the same time, help in scar-healing. Opt for a honey facial mask or facial wash. It can be a little costly, but it is definitely well-worth your money. This is a natural acne treatment that you can try out.

Do not wash your face too often. You might think that washing often can help remove oil and dirt, but washing your face too often can make your skin too dry, thus allowing your oil glands to produce even more oil! This will worsen your acne condition. Use a suitable cleanser. If you have no idea what is your skin
condition, you might want to consult a dermatologist first before you begin any acne treatment.

Natural Body Acne Treatment

2

Curing acne on your body is very different to clearing up your face and neck. You have to take a radically different approach to getting rid of spots that pop up on your chest, back, or anywhere else. In this little guide to natural body acne treatment you are going to learn how to cure body acne with holistic, natural remedies. Don't expect the normal hype or nonsense from this article- today you are going to learn some of the most important steps you can take for naturally treating body acne.

The key thing to remember with body acne is that the skin on areas such as your back and chest is much thicker and more resilient than on your face and neck. The consequences of this are twofold; firstly, you can use more 'aggressive' treatment methods. Secondly, you are more likely to experience cystic spots, or very stubborn pimples on your body than on your face. For the longest time, for example, my face was clear but my back still had quite bad spots. However, I could also use more potent treatment methods to get my body clear of acne.

It is very important to keep your body clean and hygienic when trying to get rid of body acne. This is particularly the case if you are prone to sweating, live in a humid area, or do lots of exercise. You need to be judicious with showering and cleaning sweat and dirt off your body, in order that it does not build up and lead to further spots.

As far as an effective natural body acne treatment is concerned, one of the best methods you can use is to mix aloe vera and lemon juice into a spritzer bottle, then apply it to your skin after it is cleaned. Do this consistently for a few weeks and you will see good results. The secret here is consistency; you will never see any good results if you try for a little while and then give up. Good things come to those who wait, and this is especially true when dealing with acne treatment.

You can also be more aggressive with exfoliation, so don't be afraid to use an over-the-counter exfoliant (or make your own) and use it at least once every few days. You could also consider using a loofah instead. Don't scrub your skin until it is sore, but definitely consider exfoliating regularly.

Naturally treating body acne is not as difficult as it might first seem, simply because you can be more 'forceful' with your skin. At the same time, don't neglect to treat your acne from the inside out, so you clear your skin up permanently.

Brain Cancer Survival Rate

0

Brain Cancer Survival Rate: Brain tumor is basically characterized by the abnormal or uncontrolled growth of cells in the brain. The brain tumors occur in the brain in two different ways - some tumors spread from a cancer affected part of the body to the brain, while some other tumors start their growth in the brain itself. Given below are the major symptoms of brain tumor.

Changes in personality are also observed in people suffering from brain tumor.

Over exposure to certain harmful chemicals can lead to brain tumor.
The brain tumor survival rates depend on various factors, such as the location of the brain tumor, the size and type of the brain tumor, stage of the brain tumor and whether the patient is suffering from any other ailment. The brain tumor survival rates are around eighty percent for those suffering from oligodendroglioma brain cancer.

Brain cancer remains one of the most incurable forms of cancer, with an average survival period of one to two years.

Factors Affecting Survival
Several factors can influence the five-year survival rate of cancer patients. These include the size of the tumor, its location in the brain, the type and severity of the cancer, the stage of the cancer and the overall health of the patient.

How Survival Rates are Calculated
Survival statistics are based on large numbers of people, and should not be used to predict the survival of an individual patient.

Age and Survival
A patient's age has much to do with how long he will survive with brain cancer, as the odds decrease with age. According to healthline.com, children to the age of 14 have a 73 percent chance of surviving five years, while the rate drops to 55 percent for young adults between 15 and 44. Middle-aged patients between 45 and 64 have a 16 percent survival rate, and the elderly have a survival rate of only 5 percent.

Other Facts

Despite the gloomy statistics, it has been shown that a combination of radiation treatment and chemotherapy can lengthen the life of brain cancer survivors, and in some cases, even improve the quality of life, while patients who forgo treatment do not live as long.

The Brain Cancer presented here are based on the relative survival rate. The overall 5-year relative brain cancer survival rate for 1995-2001 was 33.3 percent.
The 5-year relative survival rates for brain cancer by race and sex were as follows:

• 32.1 percent for Caucasian men
• 33.5 percent for Caucasian women
• 37.7 percent for African-American men
• 37.5 percent for African-American women.

Stage Four Brain Cancer Survival Rate Statistics reveals that mental stress and negative emotional is responsible for around 85% of physical disorders.

Negative Emotional And Cancer has No Direct Relation

There is no such direct connection of negative emotional and cancer, but it has been proven that negative emotional experiences and mental stress weakens the immunity system. How Negative Emotional Experiences Effect your Body?

After becoming a cancer patient, the quantity of stress and negative emotion increases automatically. The negative emotional experiences interrupt the energy flow in human body.

Tips for recovering from emotional loss.

Keep Your Heart Healthy With 6 Easy Tips

1

February is all about having a Heart. Nearly 50 years ago February was designated "American Heart Month" by an act of Congress; while over 1,700 years ago, so the story goes, the kindly Bishop Valentine defied the then Roman Emperor's ban on marriage and was martyred on February 14th around 270 A.D. thus giving birth to Valentines Day. The long and short of February; this is the month to address matters of the heart. So I'll cut to the chase, how healthy is your heart?

According to the American Heart Association (AHA), physical inactivity is a major risk factor for cardiovascular disease and most Americans are not physically active enough. AHA and the American College of Sports Medicine both recommend that all adults (ages 18 and up) should be getting at least 30 minutes of moderate exercise 5 days per week to gain any health benefits. It is really a lot easier than you think when you incorporate a couple of these tips and suggestions into your daily routine.

• Exercise can be as simple as walking if you are just beginning a fitness routine - start slowly and always listen to your body

• Progress from walking to an easy jog or hills if you are outside

• In the gym be sure to vary the cardio equipment you use

• A great way to really increase the intensity of your cardio workout is to incorporate plyometric training or short bursts of high intensity training, try Jumping Jacks, Lunge Jumps, Bench or Box Jumps

• Remember to incorporate both strength training and cardio to get the best possible results and to keep your heart healthy year round

• Other things that you can do to keep your heart healthy include; monitoring your blood pressure, keeping your cholesterol & blood sugar in check and of course eating healthy

For the more romantic matters of the heart we have Valentine's Day. Gifts to ones sweetheart such as chocolate, flowers or cards became popular in Victorian times and remain so today. A gift of chocolate on Valentine's Day not only says "I love you," but now research shows that it may have real heart healthy benefits! In fact studies have shown that it contains antioxidants & flavonoids that help to lower blood pressure & bad cholesterol. Plus dark chocolate also contains serotonin, a natural mood-boosting anti-depressant and it stimulates pleasure-inducing endorphin production. To be considered true dark chocolate it must be made of at least 65% cacao. European chocolates typically contain the highest amount of the beneficial flavonoids. Even with all the health benefits of dark chocolate - remember, all things in moderation. Just so you know here are some nutritional facts.

• 5 Dove dark chocolate pieces (40 g): 210 calories, 13 g fat

• 4 Ghirardelli dark chocolate squares (43 g): 220 calories, 17 g fat

• Lindt Excellence dark chocolate (40 g portion): 220 calories, 17 g fat

Keep your heart healthy this February and all year long!
